Courage...... and IT.....
Then why people show courage!!!! Courage comes from your inner-self. Here courage brings lots of work and responsibilities but it brings honor too. More than honor, self-respect is why people show courage. A feeling when you solved difficult/complex issue is not less than winning a cricket match or wining a race. It excites you and give you thrill to solve more complex things. Obviously it is slow process compare to other thrilling experiences, it is more like Chess. Mental strength is what asks this industry.Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Chintu ki kahani......
Pareshaan thi Chintu ki wife
Non-happening thi jo uski life
Chintu ko na milta tha aaram
Office main karta kaam hi kaam
Chintu ke boss bhi the bade cool
Promotion ko har baar jate the bhul
Par bhulte nahi the wo deadline
Kaam to karwate the roz till nine
Chintu bhi banna chata tha best
Isliye to wo nahi karta tha rest
Aur chod di usne Onsite ki moh maya
Boss se bola, "Tum kyon satate ho ?"
"Onsite ke laddu se buddu banate ho"
"Promotion do warna chala jaunga"
"Onsite dene par bhi wapis na aunga"
Boss haans ke bola "Nahi koi baat"
"Abhi aur bhi Chintus hai mere paas"
"Yeh duniya Chintuon se bhari hai"
"Sabko bas aage badhne ki padi hai"
"Tum na karoge to kisi aur se karunga"
"Tumhari tarah Ek aur Chintu banaunga"
(WAKE UP CHINTU)

IT Myths......
Auntyji : "Beta, kaunsa tent?"
Me: "Persistent! Aunty I work in Persistent. "
Aunty: "Tumko Info*** mein nahi mila kya?" (in short: "tum second grade gadha lagte ho")
Then I have to make efforts to tell them how I actually work for a much better company. In case the opposite person is technologically sane then I give him some product development 'funda' (arrogance).
Myth #2: If you haven’t been on site ...u are a loser
Uncle: "Tum do saal se IT company mein kaam kar rahe ho na?"
Me: (tightening my collar..head high) "Haan uncle......bas ....."
Uncle: "Tum videsh nahi gaye?"
Me: "Nahi uncle project mein requirement nahi hai onsite kaa"
Uncle: "Lekin woh bunty ko toh maanna padegaa.... engg mein 2nd class milaa...fir bhi usne jamke mehnat ki aur usse company ne USA bheja!"
Aaaha! thats the problem. People think that only the smarty pants are sent on site while the loser ones are the people left behind in India. So the assumption is that if you haven't been on site then you don't work hard nor you have any sincerity and ... ok that's enough for now.
Myth #3: You can fix any computer..and calculator and may be clocks too
Most of the computer engineers around must have at east once gone to a friend's place only to fix his /her comp. The task can be from installing a software (next..next.. finish) to fixing a computer which gives electric shocks when its metal areas are touched.
Myth #4: You have lots of money
Once I met up with my friends from school ...from various fields. I just mentioned that it is such a pain to go to office nowadays and said that I wanted to buy a car.
Friend1: "what problem do u have man .. u are an IT waala"
Friend2: "Tu toh Honda CRV le saktaa hai"
Me: "CRV!! aabey CRV kyaa mere pass VCR lene ka paisa nahi hai"
Even after 5 minutes of convincing them weren't getting convinced.
Myth #5: Coding means sitting in front of the computer
During my college days , my classmate had an encounter with a guy from mechanical dept:
Mech guy: "Your Computer engineering is a big nautanki.... four years You learn the same grey dabba... and all you ppl do is sit nicely in front Of that dabba and punch the keys"
Well I don’t completely disagree
Myth #6: One more thing which oldies say : “ Now you work in
such a big company , you are settled , you should marry now !! “
Myth #7: In Diwali…u get questions like……”Are you gonna get a
bonus this Diwali…..??” And when we reply in the negative…..they seem
so surprised…!!!!!!!
Myth #8: A common issue that I have seen:
When I tell anybody that I work with Infosys, many times I get a reply
“My son/daughter/relative Mr/Ms XXX also works with Infosys. You must
be knowing him/her” and if I answer in the negative, they feel
disappointed (sometimes even angry with me).
How to explain to them that there are around 1,00,000 employees in my
company forget about knowing everybody in the company. L
LoLzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

#How many times do you face this question
“What does your company make…???”

First Trek of this monsoon....
This Sunday, We went to trek at sinhgadh to enjoy rainy season and lush green environment and it's more than worth..... as sir said in his blog, that monsoon is the season to be enjoyed... and it was the first trek with my team..office team.. it finally happened after 2 and half years.. yet there was 12 confirmation on Monday, but at Sunday evening, there was 7 people standing at sinhgadh but ya.. it was thoroughly enjoyable trip with lots of fun with each other, although it was the slowest in terms of time compare to my other 3 trek here.... but that was understandable as it was a bit tough for 2 team member as they are totally out of touch for any kind of exercise..... click here for pics
lets see when I go for next trek... eagerly waiting for the next weekend...

Long working hours
Actually, we have work all the time, there is not a single day.. not a single hour in our project that we don't have any work... this release, I have assigned one feature which I need to implement alone & I don't know why but I am feeling a bit lazy this time.. may be I due a big vacation... which I don't take after DB split release... well but point is, due to laziness, I had worked lazily on it n then as it is delayed.... so I wanted to work for 16 hours on thursday-friday and want to complete it.
I had reached office at 7 in the morning and planned to work till 11-12 pm, but after 8 in the night... mind ..brain... stopped working... there is something like biological clock about human body....same thing... project clock may be... we have workload all the times but there is nice practice in team.. come at 9-9:30.... and leave at 8-8:30..at most 9-10.... during DB split, I wanted to work late but that time, I have to read for certification also so couldn't do it (but now I doubt that I would able to do that!!!) ...
Really surprised how Mukesh, Rajesh are working till 1-2-3 in the night....their mind must be restless like Jay (my cousin), Seema (my project manager) or may be its project practice... whatever it is... I want to do it.. for a month.. or for a week at least.... :) ...
one positive thing.... I can reach office at 7 in the morning... which I doubt Mukesh or Rajesh can do.... :) ...

Busiest Month of Life.......Professional Life....
and two good things happened in this busy month... remember about Assessment test at office last month.... result come and my score is in top 3 percentile at company .... in top 50 from 1500 so get Medal from our MD and Founder, Anand Deshpande.... first medal after so many years .. :(....but better late than never... :) ..... and other is SCWCD certification exam.. scored 95%.... worked very hard for that... actually read very hard... 13 hours work at office ...even on weekends and then read for 3-4 hours daily is tough task.... for me at least... but I did it... and it's finally over... even work and exam finished.... and month to finished.... ek dialog like Hindi movie...... month complete... task complete.... :) .... but two bad thing also happened... not able to continue Gym.... hopefully starts again from 2moro... n that client extended deadline for 15 days.. although its not new thing for me n my project... its critical release (as manager says...) ... we failed again... or as one of my friend said to me..... we did it again.... :( ....
n yes... not a single movie in whole month... very new thing for me...it happens after so many years ..not a single movie!!!!! personal record for me :) ..... i don't think there will be another month with out movie in my life.......

Yesterday was Uttarayan, aka Kite Flying day…
And first time in my life, I am not at Terrace, not in Gujarat in 26 years and yet I have no regrets for that… actually got two friends phone in the morning,, at that time felt sad for few minutes only.. nothing more...
When I was kid, I never ever thought I will not celebrate Uttarayan some day… I remembered there was always 2nd semester exams falls during these times of year and there was always dilemma weather to study or to fly kite… choice between boredom n fun and as always fun wins….. n it was great fun.. whole day with friends at Terrace, kites, songs loudly coming from speakers, Chikki n off course Cool chicks…
And I remembered, dad was not much interested in Uttarayan… he went to office to do work alone n only came at terrace for hour or two in the evening and I always wonder why… why dad was not interested in kite flying and more interested in work but today I can understand why…. Goals of life changed now… earlier flying kite high n cut other kites are far more important than getting good marks in exam… now finish work before deadline is more important than spending whole day at terrace with friends… so that’s how it is.. That’s how life works…..
